What
Are Veneers?
Veneers are
a thin, translucent coating made out of porcelain or resin
(plastic). They are applied to the front teeth to improve their
color, shape, or size. They can help you achieve the smile you
want.
Are
Veneers Right for You?
Veneers can correct many dental problems. Which includes as
follow.
1.
Teeth discolored from medication (tetracycline) or age.
2.
Chipped or worn front teeth.
3.
Spaces between teeth.
4.
Teeth that are crooked or uneven.
The
Procedure
2 or 3 office visits are required from start to finish. You
go through comprehensive examination of your teeth, all
necessary X-rays, diagnostic casts and soft tissue management
program. Diagnostic casts are used to make ideal shape and
size of your teeth. Your teeth are prepared for veneers.
Veneers are bonded to your teeth with special bonding agent.
Preparing Your
Teeth:
Surface of your teeth is lightly filed. Impression is taken and
sent to a lab to fabricate your veneers. The filed teeth is covered
with temporary.
Between Visits:
Avoid eating hard foods. They may loosen your temporary
coverings. Brush your teeth gently and avoid foods that are too
cold.
Bonding Your
veneers: Your veneers will be fitted to make sure
shape, size and color ok. The surfaces of your teeth are cleaned to
bond your veneers. The veneers are bonded with a special bonding
material. Caring for Your Veneers:
Flossing, Brushing:
Use un-waxed between all teeth at least once a day to
remove plaque. Your start flossing in one place, and work carefully
around all your teeth. Veneers are
typically the kindest restoration to the gum tissues that we
currently have in our prosthetic armamentarium. Do not be
afraid that you will damage your laminates by either flossing
or brushing. Any non-abrasive tooth paste is acceptable. A
good home care regimen will insure the esthetic success of
your laminate restorations for years to come.
Some sensitivity to hot and cold may be experienced
after the placement of your veneers. This relates to the amount of
enamel left on your tooth after preparation, the proximity of
the nerve as well as several other factors. Some sensitivity
is absolutely normal and usually dissipates after one-two
weeks. If this sensitivity should remain or concern you at
all, please call the office.
As mentioned before, a normal diet should pose no problem at
all. Please avoid anything that will tend to bend or twist the
laminates.
If you are known to be a bruxer or clincher, please let us know
before you get veneers . He/she will fabricate a soft night guard for you
to wear to minimize the stresses placed upon your teeth while
you sleep.
Approximately one week after the placement of your laminates
you will be asked to return to the office for a treatment
evaluation. This visit is extremely important. It gives your
dentist the opportunity to evaluate the placement of the
laminates, the tissue response and to answer any questions you
might have regarding your new smile.
We hope that your Porcelain Laminate Veneers have fulfilled all
of your esthetic goals. With proper home care and scheduled
evaluation visits, they can provide you with a beautiful smile for
years to come.
